Especially for women, queer folks and anyone who has ever thought, ‘I should know how to do this, but I don’t.’ Whether you live alone, don’t have a go to person to call, or simply want practical help without judgement, you’re welcome here. No question is too basic.

Everyday Repairs is for anyone who needs practical help, wants to learn or simply doesn’t know where to start. Many of us were never taught how to use tools or tackle maintenance. You can ask me to take care of the job or work through it with me and build your confidence for next time.

Getting the details just right
Getting pictures straight and evenly spaced can be surprisingly fiddly. I helped plan, measure and hang this little gallery so everything sat neatly together.

Replacing a rotten back door
Years of rain had left our back door beyond repair. I removed it and carefully fitted a new timber and glass door to keep our home warm and dry.

A warmer bed for Gabby and Cooper
Gabby and Cooper were getting cold on the floor, so I built them a raised hardwood bed. It was a good chance to learn more about support and weight, and they’re much cosier now.

Fitting curtains properly
These windows needed curtains fitted securely and evenly. I measured the fixing points, installed the hardware and made sure everything hung neatly.
FURNITURE RESTORATION
Bringing old garden chairs back to life
These outdoor chairs were weathered and worn. I cleaned, prepared and repainted them, giving them a bright new life in the garden.

Keeping Bonnie on the road
Bonnie is my pride and joy, a 1978 Leyland Mini 1100. I handle her maintenance, upgrades and suspension work to keep her safe and running.

Our cottage windows were no longer properly sealed. I restored them pane by pane, giving the house a fresh look and keeping the weather outside.

I’ve always loved figuring out how things work.
I’m based in Cape Town. What started with curiosity and a can-do attitude has grown into a real love of solving practical problems and making spaces work better.
I’m methodical, patient and a bit of a perfectionist. Whether I’m fixing something for you or showing you how, you can ask questions, take your time and expect the job to be done properly.
